Example request and response
curl 'https://crimedata.dev/v1/incidents?lat=37.788&lon=-122.4075&radius_m=500&category=theft_from_vehicle&limit=2' \ -H "x-api-key: $CRIME_API_KEY"
Illustrative response. The field names match /v1/incidents; the incident values are placeholders, not real records, and source is shortened.

Coverage
Baltimore, Boston, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington DC. Each city comes from its own open-data portal, with its licence and newest record date shown on the coverage table and in GET /v1/cities. NYC publishes quarterly, so its records are about three months old. Elsewhere in the US, /v1/score returns city-wide FBI rates only, not street-level incidents.

Paid plans are sold and billed only on RapidAPI, where you can cancel any time. Over quota, calls return 429 rather than a surprise bill.
Limits
Crime Data API is not a consumer reporting agency. Do not use it for tenant, employment, credit or insurance screening or any eligibility decision. Reported incidents are not convictions or a prediction of personal risk. Data is revised by the source and can be incomplete; keep the source attribution and check each city's licence for your use. Compare with SpotCrime or the FBI API.
