Terms of use
The Data Processing Addendum is incorporated by reference where we process personal data on your behalf.
- The data is police-reported incidents from public open-data portals, provided as is, without any warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a purpose. Incidents are reports, not convictions, and sources revise them.
- Don't use the API to screen or make decisions about individuals: tenants, job applicants, borrowers or insurance applicants. It is not a consumer report under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA); FCRA eligibility uses are prohibited.
- Don't use it to steer people toward or away from housing or neighborhoods based on protected characteristics, or in any way that breaks fair-housing or anti-discrimination law.
- Don't try to identify victims. Sexual-offense locations and times are coarsened for this reason; don't attempt to reverse that. Coarsening reduces identification risk; it does not guarantee anonymity.
- Pass attribution on: show the source and licence for each city you display (listed on the home page and in
GET /v1/cities). Dallas data is under ODC-BY; Washington, DC, Milwaukee and Denver data under CC BY; Baltimore data under the city's open-data licence. National city-level rates come from the FBI Crime Data Explorer (US government work). - Free keys allow 500 calls a month. Paid plans are billed by Lemon Squeezy (or RapidAPI if you subscribe there) under their terms. We may suspend keys that break these terms.
Cancellation and refunds
Paid plans renew monthly. Cancel any time from the link in your receipt email; the plan stays active until the end of the paid month and you won't be charged again. If the API doesn't work for you, email us within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund, no questions asked. After that, payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
